I absolutely love clothing and style. While most women are ‘shoe-girls,’ I am a clothes-girl. I’ve always dreamt of a shopping spree where I could splurge on clothes without the financial repercussions. Maybe one day 😉
Since I’ve been on a tight budget for a while, I haven’t invested in clothes for a long time. I might buy $100 worth of clothes yearly… when my heart wants to do that weekly. Since Chris and I have been saving for our honeymoon for a year and a half, most of our extra money is going toward that goal right now. With that being said, I wanted to start a series on the blog where I can dig a little deeper in my closet to find new outfits and hopefully inspire you to shop your closet as well.
Because most of my closet pieces are years old, it’s difficult to find links to the exact items, but I’ll do my best for similar options. Poshmark, ThredUp, and Ebay are good sources to find clothes that may be an exact match!
This is an outfit I would wear to work. Not everyone could do this, but as a teacher I can dress business casual. (obviously this is a little more toward the casual side) The Bass popover blouse (similar), Apple watch, and Ralph Lauren wedges (similar) help to elevate the look. Of course, no outfit is complete without beautiful, polished nails. These are Color Street’s Moon River nail polish strips. This Kate Spade bag is my absolute favorite.
This would be the most casual look of them all- something I would run errands in during the week or to go somewhere low-key on the weekend. I love the balance between the Home tee and the Sperry boat shoes. Alex and Ani bracelet (with a special tie the knot bracelet one of my best friends gave me), and a cute sushi coin purse. Any neutral nail polish would work well with this ensemble but I chose Color Street’s Boot Camp.
I love this outfit, especially the blue and green combo. This is perfect for a day date, maybe a lunch with friends, or a fun afternoon activity out. I found these White Mountain shoes at Marshall’s, (similar), and they’re so comfortable. The Zoah tank (similar) with the zipper back is something I bought in high school, and it’s worn well. Color Street’s Greeking Out completes the look in a bold, but matching way, as does the necklace (thanks, Chris!) and Coach crossbody.
These hunter green capris were a Dressbarn find that I love. (similar is linked) The cut, details, and color are a great statement piece and really sets any outfit apart, especially if you can wear it to work! Sometimes office wear can have some similar looks. Also, I love finding capris since it is almost always scorching hot in Florida.
Which look is your favorite? Would you be able to wear any of these combinations to work?
